Laptop hell

It has been a while, but the next installment will be coming soon. My laptop has died on me, though I'm about to fork out for another. Take care and I'll be back online very shortly.

Leading such a positive life is rarely fully appreciated whilst you're in the midst of it. Only when you lose what's precious does the extent of it's value become fully realised. And so it was when on a motorcycle tour of The Americas when I lost Cai in a bike accident. I'd never dreamt that life could be so cruel, it destroyed me. Unable to face anything of normality I set off alone to ride the Americas, 16,000 miles and eight months later I'd covered North and Central America and felt it was time to face life back in Wales again. And as is often the case, just when you think life couldn't get any worse, it did just that. I had a serious accident of my own, breaking all four limbs and taking a long time to regain a decent level of mobility. These events coincided with my first attempt at writing publicly, which can be viewed on my first blog: Americas Motorcycle Tour. Initially, whilst laying broken in a hospital bed my sole concern was for the quality of life I'd be left with. It felt a long, hard struggle, but I was determined to regain the most I could from life. By the time I was strong and able enough I rebuilt my bike, the same one I'd ridden 16,000miles on through The Americas. My first ride after nearly two years of rehabilitation was a daunting one, once over I wanted to discover just how far I could push myself. And what better way than planning another epic bike journey.

So I conceived of the idea to head east, through Europe, across the wastes of Russia to Lake Baikal, before dropping down to the Mongolian capital, Ulaan Baatar, and crossing the Gobi Desert. After that my options would be open, at great expense I procured travel permits to ride into and down through Tibet. It may well have proved a task beyond my means, but it would provide the perfect opportunity to see how far I could push myself. Eventually I made it overland all the way to Sulawesi. During my adventures I kept another blog: Two Wheels and Prayer Wheels - My Tibetan Odyssey.

The book is in the process of being written, I've been choosing isolated havens in exotic places to get the creative juices flowing. And now, I plan to spend some time writing in the Philippines, interspersed with a bit of adventure.
